This Too Shall Pass
Last night while I attended the Rackspace hosted party at UDS and at the same time Pete was out at Dinner with co-workers we got word that our house was on fire. All I have in me to type about it at the moment is the “Long Story Short” version…
Lightning hit our house and from all reports it’s a total loss. Luckily for us no one was home, Pete and I are in Orlando, FL attending UDS and our kids are back home at my mom and dad’s house (thanks mom and dad for all you are doing and thanks for getting the dog out of the house)
Everything that matters to Pete and I survived – Our Family! We are all safe and sound. (Becca and Matthew – we love you and we’ll see you both soon! Thanks for being so awesome through all of this! We Love you! We Love you! We Love you!)
Thanks everyone for your thoughts, your prayers, your hugs and your love. I am not sure what tomorrow holds, but I do know with your continued thoughts, prayers, hugs and love that “This too shall pass”
Sorry to hear about this. but you are right, Your real home is where the heart is. may this be a chance to grow even more buth as a family as people.

As someone who has gone through something similar, my heart goes out to you. Its sad grieving the loss of treasured family heirlooms and such and also the house itself. So many memories. And the loss of pictures is hard but I grew up in the age of printed photos. We had the luck to have various religious organizations that heard about it and donated various things to get us back on our feet as well as a temple that we were part of at the time. I hope you have similar luck. It takes a few years to get back to a new normal and I’m sure with the help of your on-line and off-line friends, you will be ok.
